SIA to showcase new best practice guidance on the development of a cohesive and effective eBorder strategy at SDW 2017 and INTERPOL World 2017

Paris, June 17, 2017 – The Secure Identity Alliance (SIA), the global identity and secure eServices advisory body, today announces the publication of Strong Identity, Strong Borders paper. Providing agencies and governments with a best practice guide to the design and implementation of effective eBorder strategies, the paper explores the latest thinking on efficient border management - without sacrificing security or the free movement of people or trade.

Globalisation, combined with an exponential increase in international travellers and migrants, is creating unprecedented challenges for agencies tasked with managing border security and immigration enforcement.

Countries around the world are increasingly looking to make best use of available resources at physical borders and other critical transit checkpoints, utilizing solutions that support information sharing and address threats early – without impacting legitimate travellers,” says Frédéric Trojani, Chairman of the Board, Secure Identity Alliance.

From integrating pre-arrival risk assessment to facilitate the fast processing of travellers who pose a low risk, to biometrics that make it easy to automate immigration controls and assure the privacy of citizens, the race is on to eliminate inefficient practices and use technology to streamline and fortify border security operations.”

Featuring real-life case studies of how digital identity technologies are enabling greater cross-agency collaboration and intelligence sharing to deliver safer, standardized and more effective borders, the paper makes an important contribution to this important debate.

The SIA will participate in the panel “Entry/Exit: Stronger, smarter borders for a changing world” on 26 June, 16.10 – 17.30 at SDW 2017, a world-leading conference and exhibition event providing a global showcase for next-generation human identity solutions, focusing on intrinsic document security and on the new cutting-edge secure infrastructure now required to produce and use these advanced documents in live situations in London 26 – 28 June 2017.

The SIA will also be hosting a workshop “Strong Identity, Strong Borders” on 5 July, 14.30 – 16.50, Theatre 2 at INTERPOL World 2017, a global public security congress taking place in Singapore 4-7 July 2017, to explore the evolving nature of the border and discuss the technologies, processes and components that are crucial to the development of a fully interconnected eBorder strategy.

The SIA paper, Strong Identity, Strong Borders, is available for download from the SIA website.
