On November 28th, 2023, the digital identity landscape witnessed a historic moment as the Sustainable and Interoperable Digital Identity (SIDI) Hub convened at Trustech. This groundbreaking event, sponsored by GlobalPlatform, Open ID Foundation and Secure Identity Alliance, marked a significant stride towards fostering collaborative thinking to drive and operationalize global interoperability for digital identity.
With the support of our host, Trustech, the inaugural meeting of the SIDI Hub brought together 120 digital identity experts representing governments, multilaterals, standard organizations, and non-profits. The goal? To collectively define the essential components needed to achieve global interoperability for digital identity.
The summit was graced by the active participation of representatives from prominent organizations, including the OECD, several UN agencies, the World Bank, and 22 countries from across the globe. The opening session featured insightful presentations from Tristan Fulchiron, Digital Advisor to the French Minister of Interior Gerald Darmanin, and Philippe Latombe, French Deputy and Member of the Commission of Laws and VP Economy, Security, and Digital Sovereignty Group of the French Parliament.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to all the summit attendees whose active participation and insightful contributions played a pivotal role in the success of the meeting. Your dedication and enthusiasm underscore the shared commitment to advancing digital identity interoperability on a global scale.
As we reflect on the summit's outcomes, it is heartening to note that 90% of participants expressed a keen interest in continuing the collaborative efforts in 2024. A vast majority recognized the importance of establishing a consensus view to understand the potential impact of digital identity interoperability on GDP and inclusion. Participants also unanimously agreed to champion cross-border use cases, create a comprehensive mapping of trust frameworks across jurisdictions, set minimum requirements for digital identity interoperability, identify organizations contributing specific capabilities to digital identity infrastructure, and define global shared metrics for measuring success.
This resounding consensus reflects a shared vision among participants, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen digital identity interoperability efforts worldwide. The collective willingness to catalyze global action highlights a commitment to forging an interoperable digital future that benefits all.
In closing, we extend our gratitude once again to everyone who contributed to the success of the SIDI Hub inaugural summit. Together, let's continue to push boundaries, collaborate, and shape a connected digital future for all.
Stay tuned for more updates and exciting developments on the journey towards global digital identity interoperability!
